Next OnePlus flagship will be OnePlus 5, due this summer

As for the name, the number four is considered unlucky in China, where OnePlus is headquartered, so OnePlus 4 is a no-go. But there is also an interesting story behind the number 5. The OnePlus 5 is actually going to be the fifth phone from the company since it was launched.OnePlus has confirmed that the successor to the OnePlus 3T is due for release soon. The leaked Weibo screenshot was first shared by AndroidPure, and it pegs the storage at 128GB along with 8GB RAM, Hydrogen OS on Android 7.1.2. There will be 12MP Dual camera setup at the back with an 8MP shooter on the front. As previously reported, OnePlus has registered a new smartphone model at the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) with a model number A5000. As per the listing, the smartphone is listed at $449 (Rs 28,870) but was “Out of stock”. Also, the screen resolution of the upcoming device is said to have a 2560 x 1440 pixels.Other rumours have suggested it could have a whopping 6GB RAM to augment the super-powered new processor and a 5.5-inch AMOLED display. Internal storage, meanwhile, is expected to be 128 GB. This 4G smartphone runs on Android Nougat operating system, as per the listing. OnePlus’ Dash charging has become a benchmark for the fast charging tech and the post mentions that it will be further improved by 25 percent over the last iteration. An earlier leak on Weibo had claim the OnePlus 5 won’t have a vertical dual-rear camera, but rather a horizontally placed dual-rear camera. Hence, with this superstitious belief in mind, OnePlus has chose to skip the OnePlus 4 and directly move on to the OnePlus 5.Now, according to The Verge, the smartphone maker has finally confirmed that the company’s next flagship smartphone will arrive sometime this summer, most probably in June.
